The Songbirds Sing for Spica Warrior

30th June 2016 by Natalie Leave a Comment

I am really delighted that The Songbirds, a Marlow based, all female choir that my mum sings with, will be performing at The Shelley Theatre on 10th July.

Lead by the talented Musical Director, Sophie Jugé and accompanied by pianist, Gez Kahan, the women of all ages, and from all walks of life, will sing a collection of weather themed songs.

As well as entertaining the audience, it is hoped that the atmospheric performance will also raise money for two local charities: The Rennie Grove Hospice as well as our very own Spica Warrior.

Sally, said, “The Songbirds were formed nearly ten years ago and as we have grown, we have very much become a part of the local community. We rehearse once a week and whilst we work hard and are serious about singing, it is all about having fun and bringing women together. spica-warrior

She added, “As well as offering an evening of first class entertainment on 10th July, we will also be raising money for two local charities that were chosen by our members. The Rennie Grove Hospice provides care and support for patients with illness such as cancer and Spica Warrior works with families of children with hip dysplasia (DDH) a little known, life changing condition.”

Lucas and I will be attending the event to talk about DDH and Spica Warrior and cannot wait to hear the ladies sing.

The money raised at the event will go towards purchasing a much need new spica table for The Coxon Ward at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where Lucas has spent so much time over the past seven-years.

More details about the Songbirds can be seen at www.the-songbirds.com and you can also still buy tickets for the event – see you there.
