I read your posts on Facebook
I get your emails on my phone
My heart sinks as a I feel your pain and desperation
I know that feeling all too well
And you can do it knowing we are here to help
You have to know it is ok to talk about your sadness
And your grief and anger
It is ok to feel down and hard done by
The day they gave the DDH diagnosis
Your life changed
It might have come as a massive shock
Something you had never heard of and weren’t prepared for
We know it isn’t fair
That it shouldn’t be happening
You sit and wonder did it had to happy to you and your child
The thing is it did
We really can’t change that
As much as we wish we could
But what we can do is help you find your way
To be here night and day
To cheer you on when things are bad
To find a way to make you glad
To find the silver lining when all seems so bleak
We know about the smelly casts
The appointments and checks
The straps on the buggy that just won’t budge
The worry and stress
The women who stare and the men that tut
The siblings who feel left out
The partners who want it to be over too
The clothes that no longer fit and the bamboo that is now tattered and torn
These days you know, will pass
It might take weeks, it could be months
But we will be here
With a virtual hug and encouraging thoughts
We know when you have appointments
We will wish you goodnight
We have people all over the world to make sure you are alright
We will help as much as we can when your mind goes into overdrive
So, hippy mummy keep in there
And DDH daddy too
Hold your little one close and near
You will find your way
Step by step
Day by day
And DDH UK will be right with you
All the way
Every night and every day
Stay with us and it will be ok
